This guest room used to be called The Spongebob Room. It was floor-to-ceiling covered in magic marker! Names, phrase, and (of course) Spongebob were the focal points of the room. The floor was nasty carpet that I'm pretty sure they tried to draw on as well! We even ran into someone in the street that had looked at the house when it was for sale, and as soon as he mentioned the Spongebob Room...my husband made him come in and take a look at what we had done!
I started painting with primer, of course, (GOODBYE SPONGEBOB!) and then with my paint. The marker was NOT going away! So I tried more primer, then more paint. I could still read every word through the paint, so my husband went to get a "special" primer that the market STILL bled through! We had guests staying over the next day, and I was almost in tears. Nothing was working! So I just kept painting over and over with the regular paint since it seemed to be covering the best. FINALLY, at 1 in the morning, it was covered!!
Well, the room turned out so beautiful that I like it better than the master bedroom! I've been through 7 or 8 different colors of white since we started working on the house. I had no time to test out a new color on the guest room, but I didn't want any of the one I had already tried! I just went to the store and picked out a color, and it turned out to be my FAVORITE white in the entire house! I actually ended up repainting our living room in the same color.
It's a quaint little room, but it's bright and cheerful! What room in your house is the most cheerful?
