2014 Fall Home Tour

Hello friends! Welcome to our blog...we're Jana + Vanessa, and we run a traveling pop-up vintage market out of Montana, Utah, and Colorado! We also blog here, and have a ton of fun posting on Instagram and Facebook. Vanessa and I are so excited to be a part of the Fall Home Tour hosted by Kelly at Eclectically Vintage + World Market!! It has been SO much fun, and we both needed a kick in the pants to get our houses ready for the coming season! Bear with us...we're posting BOTH of our homes, and we have a lot of photos!!

If you just started the tour with us, make sure start with the first post at Eclectically Vintage! We love how Kelly mixed vintage with new finds, especially the fun medical cabinet she bought!

A quick hello to those joining us from Craftberry Bush! We hope you enjoy this stop on the fall home tour!

Vanessa and I are huge fans of World Market, so when they decided to partner with us for the home tour...we were thrilled!! Oh man, it was so hard to choose! Have you been to their website or store lately?? Good grief, everything is amazing! We'll make sure to point you to World Market-specific items throughout the post.

- JANA'S HOME -

So, Tanner and I have been pretty nomadic for the past four years. We left Montana (insert 'tears streaming down the face' emoji here) in 2010 to find more stable work which led us to Wyoming, and now northern Colorado! Since we are seemingly always on the move, renting is the best option for us. Right now, we live in a TINY 950 square foot home in Old Town Fort Collins. I'm sure that if we had searched longer for a bigger house, we'd have found it...but we love being right downtown!

All photos of my home were taken by Jennifer Little. She works MAGIC behind the camera, and she's out of Fort Collins!! You can check out more of Jen's work on her blog and on Instagram. She may even post a few bonus pics of the house!

There's a family of raccoons that lives in the alleyway behind our house, so I kept the decor pretty minimal on the porch this year. I am sure they'll help themselves to some pumpkins and ornamental kale before the season is over though!!

Oh, this mantle. It came from a parlor in Philly, circa 1910. I got it from one of our vendors at the newest Colorado market (January 10, 2015 in Loveland, CO...and we're still ACCEPTING VENDORS! You can find more information about our markets by visiting our website) and oh am I in love. It's the perfect size for our tiny house, and the mantle shelf is big enough to DECORATE!!

White pumpkins, brass candlesticks, dried moss, & old books. A recipe for beauty, every single time.

#eclecticallyfall

I picked up these gourds and vintage wooden apples at an antique store in Fort Collins, and I love how the colors work together!! Baby-friendly too! (so far)

#eclecticallyfall

I'm such a sucker for candles!

#eclecticallyfall

#eclecticallyfall

This is our cozy little living room. Since we don't have much space in the bedroom, we had to utilize every inch of this room! The bookcase serves as a toybox, a desk, a broom closet with a fold out ironing board, and a place to hold shoes that used to pile up next to the front door! Tanner built this for under $500. Post on that coming soon!

#eclecticallyfall

My comfy, cozy, beat up, cat-scratched, baby-scratched, drooled on, huge, tufted, gorgeous leather  love of a couch. I know I need a smaller couch for my tiny space, but I can't part with this one! I couldn't bear to see it in storage!! I got this from a gorgeous home in Seattle. This was the couch in their study. Their STUDY. Amazing. The living room is too small for a coffee table, so we put in a sturdy pouf from World Market (found in the home + decor section of their website. This color may not be available anymore, but there are some gorgeous alternatives), and a wooden side table! We can move them around as needed, and they work so well with the color scheme!

#eclecticallyfall

Oh, hey there gorgeous accordion lamp. Thanks, World Market, for introducing us. We'll get along just fine.

#eclecticallyfall

These faux cowhide pillows are one of my favorite finds from World Market!! I love how they play with the leather and vintage kilim pillow!

#eclecticallyfall

I found this giant bell jar at an estate sale in Fort Collins. The whole sale was full of interesting treasures. The original owner was a surgeon in the 40s! Love that cotton, but what I REALLY want inside are some gorgeous crabapple branches!  Our next door neighbor has a crabapple tree in her front yard.  Maybe I could sneak some and blame it on the raccoons!

#eclecticallyfall

I loved shopping the home decor section of World Market. I found this adorable globe and knew it had to come home and live in the bookcase.

#eclecticallyfall

My little "hallway." It's really more like a 3' circle so there's not much room to decorate...but hey, where there's a wall there's a way. Or something like that. I hung a vintage frame and my all-time favorite felt flag by Mary Kate McDevitt!! Obviously I don't always have a candle going 4'' from the floor, but doesn't it look cute?!

#eclecticallyfall

Moving on to the bedroom...

#eclecticallyfall

I wasn't going to put a colored pillow on the bed until I saw this ruby red velvet one at World Market. It was MADE for this room.

#eclecticallyfall

#eclecticallyfall

A vintage embroidered pillowcase. Wallace?! IN CURSIVE?! Get out of town. SO CUTE.

#eclecticallyfall

Coffee in bed? Why, yes please.

#eclecticallyfall

I'd show you the bathroom, but I can barely fit in it without my knees hitting the wall when I sit down, so....lets move on to my favorite room in the house. The kitchen!!

#eclecticallyfall Vintage Whites Blog

Well, let me back up. I have a love/hate relationship with it actually. It's a rental, and we're not allowed to change anything!! The backsplash is like nails on a chalkboard to me. You can sorta see it creeping over there on the left. Thankfully, this side of the kitchen has pretty windows and paint and floors! I like to focus on this side...but someday I'll have my white subway tile backsplash!!

DIY Copper Drying Rack #eclecticallyfall

A skinny French wooden table with bistro chairs works just perfectly in the kitchen!! Not too big, but still ample space for serving and dining.

#eclecticallyfall

#eclecticallyfall

Ain't nobody got time for pie plates

#eclecticallyfall DIY Copper + Driftwood drying rack

Tanner built this drying rack for me using copper pipes and a piece of driftwood we found in Montana. We oxidized the copper with hard boiled eggs so that it wouldn't be too shiny and new. It worked so well! I'll post on that soon.

#eclecticallyfall

Yes, I have a SMEG, but I found it on Craigslist for an incredible price!! It fits just right in the corner of the kitchen. I'll let you in on a little secret...we couldn't take the old fridge out...so it's in the corner of the bedroom!! I hid it behind the door for photos because there's a fridge in the bedroom...I mean!!! We have TWO FRIDGES in this tiny little house!!

#eclecticallyfall

My $8 trashcan I found at our last market!

#eclecticallyfall

#eclecticallyfall

FINALLY, a really cute solution to my mug storage problem!! I have way too many mugs and not enough cabinet space. World Market does it again with this 3-tier drying rack.

#eclecticallyfall

Well, I have one piece of pie sliced and waiting to be devoured...and Vanessa is ready to show you her home!! Thanks so much for letting me show you around!! Make sure to look at the end of our post for a link to the NEXT stop on the tour, a beautiful Fall Pinterest board, and ways to subscribe to our posts. Oh, we hope you do!

As a mother of 3 kids under the age of 5, my house has to be user-friendly and practical. However, I'd rather it be pretty than practical, so I may have compromised a little!

Fall is a favorite time of mine, but I've always had a hard time incorporating it into the look of my home. I've always used mainly whites and pastels in my house, and oranges and reds just don't mix in well. They're probably the last colors I would use in my house, so thank goodness for white and blue pumpkins!

We moved into this house a year and a half ago, and have completely remodeled it. Every room you see here has been totally remodeled (with the exception of my daughter's room, which just needed paint.)

Welcome to my kitchen! We just recently added the two windows on either side of the cupboard for a view of the backyard. Aren't they cute?

Who doesn't love cake stands?? And I have a collection of Mossers, vintage and several from World Market, where I found my lovely bell cloche too.

I'm also loving my ceramic cheese boards from World market as well!

  16. Simply beautiful! I follow on IG and have to admit I really thought Janna's house was bigger! You have no idea how incredibly happy it made me to realize you like in a small house with personality! We live in a small house (it was 1200 square feet but we added an addition so its now 1400 but at the time we have 3 teenage boys and a 115 dog living at home... sadly we are down to 1 boy and the dog as the other two left home but its the perfect size!) a prefab that was built in the 90's with lower than standard ceilings. Slowly but surely I think we are going to start changing out details to make it look like it is much older. Now I am off to make some pie because! (and think about making a trip to world market some time soon) My hubby even loved your houses!!!

  25. I was so excited when I saw the sink in Vanessa's kitchen. I have been collecting vintage cast iron drainboard sinks while I'm planning our new kitchen. I have one identical to the one in the photo. It's my favorite and I've been trying to come up with a way to install it. I didn't really like the look of it sitting on top of a cabinet so I was THRILLED to see how you've installed it. I especially like the turned legs. And I see the dishwasher beside it (another kink in my plan was how to disguise the dishwasher). It looks just fine sitting beside it. Such a happy little accident stumbling onto this blog today!
